Quectel Wireless Solutions, a leading global provider of IoT solutions, has announced the expansion of its short-range module portfolio with the introduction of three new IoT modules. The new additions – the FC30R, FCU743R, and FCM740D – are designed to offer enhanced speed, cost efficiency, and flexibility, allowing companies to bring IoT devices to market faster than ever before.
The FC30R is a compact, cost-effective Wi-Fi module built for industrial applications, while the FCU743R combines Wi-Fi 4 and Bluetooth 5.2, offering high-speed wireless transmission for space-constrained designs. The FCM740D, on the other hand, integrates both Wi-Fi 4 and Bluetooth 5.2 with a high-performance microcontroller unit (MCU), making it ideal for a wide range of smart home and industrial IoT applications.
“We are committed to providing our customers with the most comprehensive and high-performance portfolio possible,” said Norbert Muhrer, President and CSO of Quectel Wireless Solutions. “These new modules offer a variety of solutions for IoT applications, empowering customers to accelerate their time to market while maintaining cost efficiency.”
The FC30R Wi-Fi module is particularly suited for M2M applications like electric vehicle chargers, gateways, and industrial PDAs, boasting a small size (12.0 mm x 12.0 mm x 2.1 mm) and the ability to integrate seamlessly with Quectel’s existing 5G and 4G modules. Similarly, the FCU743R is optimized for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands, providing high-speed transmission up to 150 Mbps in a compact form (13.0 mm x 12.2 mm x 2.0 mm). This module is particularly well-suited for rugged applications and delivers reliable connectivity even in challenging environments.
The FCM740D module stands out for its compact size (20.3 mm x 15.8 mm x 2.7 mm) and a built-in high-performance processor capable of supporting multiple IoT applications, including smart home devices, HVAC systems, and consumer electronics. With enhanced security features, the module complies with industry-leading standards such as WPA-PSK, WPA2-PSK, and WPA3-SAE.
Quectel also introduced enhanced variants of its existing Bluetooth modules, HCM511S and HCM010S, which now offer stronger transmission power and more antenna options, further expanding their usability in IoT designs.
Quectel’s modules are designed with security at their core, incorporating rigorous industry practices throughout the product development lifecycle, including security vulnerability testing, software bill of materials (SBOMs), and firmware binary analysis.
Quectel showcased its expanded portfolio at MWC Las Vegas 2024 last week.
