Mini-Circuits Expands MMIC Amplifier Line with High-Performance Models up to 10 GHz

Mini-Circuits has expanded its line of MMIC power amplifiers with the PMA5-series of amplifiers. These amplifiers are designed to deliver high dynamic range and impressive headroom for wideband and high PAPR (Peak-to-Average Power Ratio) signals. These cutting-edge amplifiers operate up to 10 GHz, offering exceptional linearity and performance tailored for applications in test instrumentation, commercial systems, and defense technologies, where precise signal handling and robust performance are critical. By achieving a balance of medium output power, wide bandwidth, and low noise, these amplifiers address the diverse needs of engineers and system designers.

Enhanced Features for High-Performance Applications

The PMA5-series amplifiers stand out with their ability to operate across frequencies ranging from 0.01 GHz to 10 GHz. They deliver P1dB levels of up to +31.2 dBm and PSAT values reaching +33.8 dBm. With low noise figures as minimal as 2.6 dB and OIP3 values as high as +44.5 dBm, these amplifiers are well-suited for applications that demand exceptional linearity and minimal signal distortion.

Compact and versatile, the amplifiers are available in 5 x 5 mm QFN-style packages or as bare die, making them suitable for dense board layouts and systems with strict SWaP (Size, Weight, and Power) requirements.

Specific Models and Capabilities

  1. The PMA5-63-2W+ supports frequencies up to 6 GHz with a low noise figure of 2.7 dB and a P1dB of +31.2 dBm.
  2. The PMA5-83-2W+ operates up to 10 GHz and balances a 3.9 dB noise figure with an OIP3 of +40.9 dBm.
  3. The PMA5-83-LV+ offers ultra-low noise (2.6 dB) with a P1dB of +28.7 dBm, also extending up to 10 GHz.

These features position the PMA5-series as highly adaptable to various performance demands in industries like communications, aerospace, and advanced testing environments.

The PMA5-series amplifiers excel in environments requiring consistent, high-quality signal amplification. They can be seamlessly integrated into systems for wideband test instrumentation, ensuring accurate measurement and testing, or commercial systems to support the next generation of wireless networks. The amplifiers also deliver dependable performance in defense applications where durability and precision are essential.
