pinkRF Introduces 4-Channel RF Power Generator for 2.4 GHz RF Energy Applications

pinkRF, a developer and manufacturer of RF Energy Systems for Industrial, Medical, Pharmaceutical, and Scientific applications, has developed a powerful and versatile 4x250W RF/ Microwave power generator operating in the 2.45 GHz ISM band. The MPG4x250S high-performance generator builds on the success of the company’s MPG2x250S model, offering enhanced output capabilities, improved control features, and greater integration flexibility.

The MPG4x250S delivers a total output of 53.4 dBm (250 W) per channel and can operate as four independent 250 W generators in either coherent or incoherent modes. With an optional external combiner, it can be transformed into a single-channel, 1000 W powerhouse, making it adaptable to a wide range of RF energy applications.

Engineered for demanding environments, the MPG4x250S employs a solid-state, semiconductor-based architecture for both RF generation and amplification, ensuring durability and reliability. The system provides high-resolution control over essential RF parameters, including frequency, amplitude, and phase. Frequency tuning is possible in steps as small as 10 kHz within the 2.4–2.5 GHz range, while amplitude can be adjusted in 0.1 dB increments, and phase in 1° steps. Fully integrated water-cooling circuitry maintains stable thermal conditions, and a comprehensive safe operating area (SOA) protection suite guards against thermal, current, and RF overstress.

The MPG4x250S  generator is equipped with four N-type female RF output ports and supports direct connection to analog, digital, or I2C-based sensors and actuators. Its robust communication interfaces—Ethernet and USB—facilitate seamless integration with industry-standard PLC and machine control systems. Users can also take advantage of an external interlock for RF shutdown, optional TTL trigger inputs, and flexible modulation modes, including continuous wave (CW) and pulse width modulation (PWM). PWM duty cycles can be set in 1% increments from 1–99%, with frequencies ranging from 1 kHz to 19.8 kHz, and even custom frequencies and duty cycles in feedforward mode using an external trigger.

Software and firmware support is a strong point of the MPG4x250S. pinkRF provides a user-friendly GUI, a comprehensive API for Windows and Linux, and a LabVIEW driver for rapid integration. The embedded firmware offers advanced functions such as fast forward and reflected power sweeps, reflected power minimum lock and tracking, and autogain control. Built-in memory allows storage of calibration data, application profiles, and modulation patterns, enabling repeatable and optimized operation across diverse use cases.

With its ability to operate as a stand-alone or multi-channel system, the MPG4x250S delivers exceptional flexibility. Whether used in closed-loop mode for precise output power regulation or feedforward mode for unknown load conditions, it ensures efficient power delivery and minimal reflected power. Rugged, rack-mountable, and designed for high reliability, the new generator is well-suited for mission-critical RF energy applications where performance, control, and integration capabilities are paramount.
