Maury Microwave has announced the release of its new uCal™ Universal VNA Calibration Modules, designed to automate vector network analyzer (VNA) calibration and deliver faster, more accurate, and highly repeatable RF measurements. The newly introduced uCal models include the UC26-35, a 26.5 GHz module with 3.5 mm connectors, along with the UC18-7 and UC18-N, both supporting frequencies up to 18 GHz with 7 mm and Type N connectors, respectively. Together, these modules expand Maury Microwave’s calibration portfolio to support a wide range of laboratory and production test environments.
Each uCal module integrates individually characterized open, short, load, and through calibration standards, with all characterization data stored directly in the module’s onboard memory. By electronically switching between calibration standards, uCal significantly reduces calibration time by eliminating the need to manually connect and disconnect cables. This approach also minimizes human-induced errors, improving overall measurement accuracy and repeatability.
In addition to calibration automation, the uCal modules incorporate an integrated transmission line that functions as a built-in verification device. This enables users to quickly verify calibration integrity and identify setup issues without requiring additional external hardware.
According to Maury Microwave, additional features and benefits of the uCal modules:
- Eliminates manual connection/disconnection of standards, improving calibration speed, reducing connector wear, and extending the life of VNA ports and cables.
- Improves accuracy, repeatability, and ease of use by minimizing operator errors, such as improper torquing or connector inconsistencies.
- Communicates with compatible VNAs directly or through the Maury Insight VNA calibration and measurement software suite.
With the launch of uCal, Maury Microwave aims to help RF and microwave engineers improve measurement confidence while reducing setup time and operational complexity in both R&D and production test environments.
