Teledyne Storm Microwave has developed the MAXIMIZER High-Performance Semi-Rigid cable line for low-loss, phase-stable microwave interconnect applications up to 40 GHz. The cables target aerospace, defense, and test & measurement systems requiring high power handling, stable electrical length, and extended temperature operation from -55 to 200°C. There are two product series withing this cable line - Gold and Silver.
MAXIMIZER™ Gold: Phase-Stable, Low-Loss Performance up to 40 GHz
The MAXIMIZER™ Gold series is engineered for high-performance RF and microwave systems requiring low attenuation, high power handling, and exceptional phase stability across wide temperature variations. Designed for operation up to 40 GHz, the series supports applications where electrical length stability and signal integrity are critical.
The cable features a larger solid silver-plated copper (SPC) center conductor combined with Teledyne’s MicroForm™ tape-wrapped dielectric, delivering improved attenuation performance and enhanced phase stability compared to conventional solid PTFE semi-rigid constructions. This design minimizes electrical length variation over temperature while supporting increased power transmission capability.
Available in diameters of 0.086", 0.116", 0.141", and 0.250", the MAXIMIZER™ Gold series achieves nominal attenuation as low as 0.17 dB/ft at 10 GHz for the 0.250" variant. Average power handling reaches up to 1514 W at 1 GHz, making the series well-suited for high-power radar, EW, and test system applications.
MAXIMIZER™ Silver: Enhanced-Performance Alternative to Legacy RG-Type Coax
The MAXIMIZER™ Silver series is engineered as a high-performance alternative to traditional RG-series coaxial cables, delivering lower attenuation at higher frequencies while maintaining compatibility with standard connectors for simplified system integration. Designed for engineers seeking improved RF performance without redesigning existing hardware interfaces, the Silver series features a standard-size solid center conductor combined with a low-density PTFE tape-wrapped dielectric. This construction reduces high-frequency attenuation by up to 18% compared to conventional configurations, while preserving mechanical robustness and dimensional compatibility.
The cables provide enhanced mechanical stability across a wide temperature range and maintain structural integrity during soldering operations. Available in 0.086" and 0.141" diameters, the MAXIMIZER™ Silver series supports maximum operating frequencies of 40 GHz (0.086") and 26.5 GHz (0.141"). Nominal attenuation at 10 GHz is as low as 0.34 dB/ft for the 0.141" variant.
The MAXIMIZER High-Performance Semi-Rigid cable family is available as custom assemblies, coils, or straight lengths with copper, tin, or silver-plated outer conductors. Additional finishes and configurations are available upon request.
