Yokowo, a Japanese technology company specializing in high-precision antennas, and microwave components will showcase a live V-band image-transmission demonstration at MWC Barcelona 2026 in collaboration with Yonezawa Bussan, using a flexible waveguide solution developed using Japan’s traditional kumihimo fiber-braiding technique.
This new approach to millimeter-wave connectivity combines advanced connector design with traditional Japanese manufacturing techniques. The waveguide is designed to be lightweight, low-loss, and highly bendable, addressing a key limitation of conventional rigid waveguides used in high-frequency applications.
During the demonstration, visitors will be able to observe stable, high-speed image transmission from a PC to a display while the waveguide is bent. The setup is intended to illustrate consistent V-band performance under physical stress conditions that would typically degrade signal quality.
The system also incorporates a newly developed compact connector from Yokowo. According to the company, the connector is smaller than conventional MIL-standard waveguide flanges and is designed to simplify attachment and removal, supporting more practical deployment in real-world applications.
The live demonstration will be presented at the Japan Pavilion in Hall 6, Stand E54, at the event in Barcelona, and will be available to attendees throughout the exhibition. Click here to learn more about MWC 2026.
