AmpliTech Group, a designer, developer, and manufacturer of state-of-the-art satellite components, has introduced an ultra-low-noise Ka-Band LNB (Low-Noise Block Down Converter Unit) with a noise temperature of 80K (1.05 dB NF). The APT5-LNB-17801930-92K10-WR42 has been developed for integration into small satellites - LEO, MEO, GEO, and portable or fixed Ka-Band teleports.
The APT5-LNB-17801930-92K10-WR42 is part of AmpliTech’s rollout of targeted industry solutions that improve and transform current telecommunications technology. It acts as a crucial intermediary between the satellite in space and the user's satellite receiver. These receivers are installed in satellite dishes to receive the signals transmitted by satellites in orbit, ensuring that the signals are received, processed, and transmitted with minimal noise and optimal quality for everyday communications.
CEO Fawad Maqbool remarked, “LNBs are essential and located in the feed of the dish antennas that we see everywhere (even on rooftops of homes) all over the world. The little box that is in the middle of the dish is an LNB that is responsible for picking up the small signals coming from streaming companies like Amazon, Disney, CNN, and a multitude of other entertainment providers. The higher performance in these LNBs means less downtime and better quality of signal to your TV or laptop. So, the next time you get a nice, clean picture on your TV, a hard-working LNB is making this possible. AmpliTech is committed to making the highest performing LNBs in the industry for everyone’s viewing pleasure.”
The APT5-LNB-17801930-92K10-WR42 from Amplitech is a Ka-Band Low Noise Block Downconverter that converts an RF Frequency from 17.8-19.3 GHz to 920-2420 MHz. It provides over 55 dB of gain with an ultra-low noise temperature of 80K (1.05 dB NF). This weatherproof block downconverter is ideal for LEO, MEO, GEO fixed, and portable Ka-band teleport applications. It measures 5.5 x 2.5 x 2.5 inches, has a WR-42 waveguide interface and SMA female connector. This LNB requires a 10 VDC supply and draws 350 mA of current. It has a low phase noise and requires an external 10 MHz reference.
Fawad Maqbool, further stated, “This new product release attests to our constant push to maximize the use of our proprietary low-noise technology into products that truly differentiate themselves on performance. This Ka LNB uses our own MMIC & LNA technology, enabling superior performance and opening new opportunities as we target demand from small sats, LEO, MEO, GEO, and portable or fixed Ka-Band teleport applications."
