Remcom has announced an updated version of Wireless InSite, their site-specific radio propagation software for the analysis of wireless communication systems. This update, Release 2.8.1, includes performance enhancements such as XStream GPU Acceleration support for NVIDIA Maxwell™ architecture-based GPUs for the X3D model and a 64-bit graphical user interface (GUI).
This release updates Wireless InSite’s X3D model with support for version 7 of the NVIDIA CUDA parallel computing platform, allowing XStream to utilize NVIDIA GPUs with compute capability 2.0-5.2. This includes high-performance NVIDIA Maxwell architecture-based GeForce and Quadro GPUs in addition to NVIDIA Kepler™ and NVIDIA Fermi™ architecture-based GeForce, Quadro and Tesla GPUs. In addition to these computational improvements, the move to a 64-bit GUI improves performance of processing and rendering within the graphical interface.
Ruth Belmonte, product manager for Wireless InSite, said - They’re pleased to offer users additional capabilities that enable them to work faster and more efficiently. The increased computing power and the 64-bit GUI will expedite the import, processing, and rendering of large complex scenes, including large terrain files and intricate structures.
Other features include enhancements to the floor plan editor and several new model capabilities that facilitate more robust rendering. Model enhancements include the availability of ground bounce calculations in the Triple Path Geodesic (TPG) and Vertical Plane Urban Propagation (VPUP) models, as well as support in the full 3D model for frequencies above 10 GHz and into millimeter wave bands.
