The A55-MH024 from Akon is a Digital Frequency Discriminator (DFD) that operates from 2 to 18 GHz. It is a highly integrated microwave assembly that uses the latest digital and microwave technologies to provide a highly accurate unit in a small volume and offer robust reliability for longer service life in military environments. This DFD has an input dynamic range from -60 dBm to +10 dBm and a pulse width from 50 ns to CW. It provides a 14-bit digital output corresponding to the measured frequency, along with flag outputs to indicate the presence of signals, valid data output, and other requirements. This DFD requires a positive DC supply of +12 V and consumes 1 A of current.
The A55-MH024 can simultaneously process multiple signals (pulse-on-pulse, pulse-on-CW) and will provide the strongest power of the two signals if the power difference is 6 dB or more. It consists of user-selectable internal or external triggering modes. In the internal trigger mode, the unit will automatically sense the presence of an incoming pulse that is above the threshold level and the external trigger mode of this module can be used to make a frequency measurement every time the unit receives an externally applied trigger pulse. This DFD is available in an environmentally-sealed module that measures 9.17 x 5.90 x 1.00 inches with MIL-STD-348 military standard SMA (female) connectors.
