The NW-BA-U-20-C01-S01 from NuWaves Engineering is a Bi-Directional Amplifier that operates from 800 to 1000 MHz. In Tx mode, it delivers a saturated output of 20 W with a gain of 38 dB. In Rx mode, it provides a gain of 18 dB with a noise figure of 1.1 dB and has a P1dB of 14 dBm. The amplifier is based on gallium nitride (GaN) technology and has an efficiency of 30%. It features fast Tx/Rx mode switching with auto-sensing or manual Tx/Rx line switching with a speed of 1.5 μs. The amplifier is suitable for extending the communication range of half-duplex transceivers running constant-envelope or near-constant-envelope waveforms. Adjacent radio frequency bands, such as the popular 900 MHz Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band, are also supported by the amplifier at lower peak power levels.

The NW-BA-U-20-C01-S01 requires a DC supply of 28 V and consumes less than 2.7 A of current. It features over-voltage and reverse-voltage protection. The amplifier is available in a module that measures 3.00 x 2.00 x 1.16 inches and has SMA-female connectors. It is ideal for use in Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) - Group 2 and Group 3, Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGV), RF communication systems, and software-defined radio applications.
