What are RFID Gateway and Portals?
RFID Gateways and Portal applications keep track of goods on the move, locating them to sites or checking their movement around buildings. They have RFID readers with appropriate antennas and are mounted at entrances, gates, doors, and hallways to record every tag that passes through them. RFID gateways and portals are important in areas where tagged items are either entering or being removed from an area and need to be cataloged quickly.
Important parameters when looking for an RFID gateway and portal:
Receive sensitivity: Receiver sensitivity is the measure of the minimum signal strength the RFID gateway/portal can pick up.
Radiated Power: Radiated power is the measure of the maximum signal strength the RFID gateway/portal can transmit.
Range: Range is the maximum distance at which RFID gateways and portals can read RFID tags passing through.
