What are V2X Modules?
V2X or Vehicle-to-Everything is a wireless technology that has been developed specifically for vehicles to communicate with other vehicles and their surroundings. The 'X' in V2X can be replaced by 'V' (V2V - Vehicle-to-Vehicle), 'P' (V2P - Vehicle-to-pedestrian), 'N' (V2N - Vehicle-to-Network), 'D' (V2D - Vehicle-to-Device) and 'G' (V2G - vehicle-to-grid). V2X uses the 802.11p standard and operates in the 5.9 GHz Band. V2X modules consist of an SOC along with supporting components like sensors and GNSS receivers to assist in communicating the precise position/information of other vehicles, infrastructure and pedestrians.
Important parameters to Consider When Looking for V2X modules or SoCs:
Supported Communication Methods: V2X has various types of communications like V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle), V2I (Vehicle-to-Infrastructure), V2P (Vehicle-to-Pedestrian), V2N (Vehicle-to-Network), V2D (Vehicle-to-Device) and V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid). These allow vehicles to communicate with each other or external systems such as buildings, streetlights, etc.
Range: This is the maximum distance up to which a V2X module or SoC can transmit and receive wireless signals.
Data Rate: This is the maximum speed at which the V2X module or SoC can transmit and receive data.
Interfaces: The V2X module or SoC is connected and controlled via an interface. It may support several interfaces through which it can be controlled.
everything RF has listed V2X modules and SOCs from the leading manufacturers. You can view the product specifications, download datasheets and get quotes on the products. We try to make sure we list all products in the industry in each category, making it easy for users to find products in one place rather than looking at multiple websites or company catalogs.
