Anritsu has introduced an upgrade to its CATR Anechoic Chamber MA8172A that supports testing of 5G mobile devices utilizing the Frequency Range 2 (FR2) millimeter wave (mmWave) bands in accordance with industry standards. The new Temperature Testing Option MA8172A-010 facilitates previously difficult temperature tests for 5G mmWave UE, helping ensure compliance.
The MA8172A is designed for use with the Anritsu Radio Communication Test Station MT8000A for 5G R&D applications and the New Radio RF Conformance Test System ME7873NR for 5G conformance tests. The CATR Anechoic Chamber integrates with the MT8000A and ME7873NR to facilitate confirmation of 5G mmWave UE RF characteristics in a controlled temperature environment to help assure and improve device quality.
The small-footprint CATR Anechoic Chamber MA8172A uses the 3GPP Compact Antenna Test Range (CATR) method to perform 5G mmWave tests. Supplying cool air from an air conditioner or similar system to the CATR Anechoic Chamber MA8172A with installed Temperature Testing Option supports configuration of the 3GPP Extreme Temperature Condition test environment covering –10° C to +55° C.
The Temperature Testing Option can be either fitted to a new MA8172A or retrofitted as an upgrade to an existing CATR Anechoic Chamber. Supporting 5G mmWave spurious tests, the MA8172A implements 5G NR over-the-air (OTA) tests in a small space. Designed in three component parts, it is easily transported and assembled to shorten setup time.
