Mini-Circuits Introduces Active Frequency Tripler with Output Frequency from 18 to 36 GHz

Mini-Circuits has developed ZXF90A-3-34X+, a wideband active frequency multiplier (tripler) that converts input frequencies of 6 to 12 GHz into output frequencies of 18 to 36 GHz. This wide output frequency range makes it suitable for broadband systems, as well as a large number of narrow-band applications. The ZXF90A-3-34X+ uses Mini-Circuits’ own ultra-low phase noise GaAs HBT LVA-273PN-D+ MMIC amplifier to drive a Mini-Circuits GaAs HBT CY3-453-D+ frequency tripler or use for chipset testing.

This multiplier also contains integrated reflectionless filters, the XLF-962-DG+ and the XHF-1832-DG+, to suppress the fundamental, second, and fourth harmonics. It also offers excellent spectral purity, which makes the ZXF90A-3-34X+ a reliable choice for applications such as 5G MIMO, satellite communications, test instrumentation, and electronic warfare (EW).

Key Features of this 3x Active Multiplier

  • Wideband output range: 18 to 36 GHz
  • Wide input power range: -3.5 to +1.5 dBm
  • F1 to F3 conversion gain: -5 dB typ.
  • Spurious levels at f1: < -55 dBc, f2 < -55 dBc, and f4 < -35 dBc
  • All Mini-Circuits’ component lineup
  • Compact and rugged housing

The above figure represents typical performance curves for this multiplier.

Furthermore, this multiplier is also protected against over-voltage and reverse voltage conditions to ensure safety. It has SMA (female) input connectors and 2.92 mm (male) output connectors. This product is RoHS compliant.
