Verus Research Secures $1.8 Million DARPA Contract to Work on the Waveform Agile RF Directed Energy Project

Verus Research has secured a Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) contract to expand on its multi-phase effort. This project is in partnership with the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL). Verus Research specializes in the research and development of radio frequency communications for high-power microwave (HPM) systems and nuclear engineering, with extensive modeling, simulation, testing and design work.

Under this one-year, $1.8 million contract, Verus Research will partner with NRL to continue its work on the Waveform Agile RF Directed ENergy (WARDEN) project, which began in 2021. To meet DARPA’s needs, the WARDEN contract seeks to develop agile waveform techniques for operational HPM use and demonstrate the application of agile HPM waveforms to dramatically reduce the HPM susceptibility of candidate electronic targets.

“This program was a multi-phase effort competed between various technology companies to see which solution best meets DARPA’s needs,” said J. Mark DelGrande, Verus Research chief technology officer. “Verus Research’s track record of providing superior solutions for our customers is why they return to us for further support.”

This award brings the DARPA WARDEN total to $5 million over the three phases.
