Rakon Introduces New GNSS Receiver with Advanced Clock for NewSpace Applications

Building upon the success of its GNSS Receiver SINGLE and DUAL models, Rakon has introduced an innovative solution that integrates GNSS Receiver functionality with GNSS Disciplined Oscillator (GNSSDO) technology, making it the first COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) NewSpace GNSS receiver to include an integrated clock. By incorporating Rakon’s proprietary Ultra Stable Oscillator (USO), the RK409NS, the GNSS Receiver TIMING device delivers exceptional precision in frequency and timing performance. The receiver’s advanced synchronization capabilities eliminate frequency jumps or glitches, ensuring unmatched reliability.

Designed with versatility in mind, the GNSS Receiver TIMING is ideal for NewSpace applications such as satellite navigation, telecommunications, and scientific missions requiring precise positioning and timing.

The GNSS Receiver TIMING features advanced telemetry and telecommand (TM/TC) communication via an RS422 UART interface, ensuring seamless data management. Available as a PC104 form factor or with full housing, the receiver can accommodate mono, bi, or tri antennas for enhanced clock management functions. Additionally, Rakon offers extensive customization to meet specific customer requirements.

Key Performance Highlights:

  1. Free-running Frequency Accuracy: Minimizes frequency drift to ±20 parts per billion (ppb).
  2. Exceptional Stability: Allan deviation (ADEV) of 0.01 ppb on the 10 MHz output when GNSSDO is locked to PPS signals.
  3. Holdover Capability: Maintains time stability of 10 µs for 24 hours across a temperature range of -20°C to +60°C.
  4. Wide GNSS Compatibility: Supports multi-band and multi-constellation signals, including GPS, GALILEO, BEIDOU, GLONASS, QZSS, NAVIC, and SBAS, processing signals from up to 448 channels.

Advanced Features:

  1. Horizontal Positioning Accuracy: 1.2 meters RMS at an 800 km altitude.
  2. Vertical Positioning Accuracy: 1.9 meters RMS at an 800 km altitude.
  3. Time to First Fix (TTFF): Achieves warm starts in under 20 seconds and cold starts in under 45 seconds.
  4. High-Stability Clock Output: Provides a highly accurate 10 MHz output via the RK409NS oscillator.
  5. Enhanced Resilience: Equipped with a rad-hard microcontroller for reliability in extreme environments.

Supported Constellations and Bands:

  1. GPS: L1C/A, L1PY, L2C, L2PY, L5
  2. GALILEO: E1, E5a, E5b, E5 AltBoc, E6
  3. BEIDOU: B1I, B1C, B2a, B2I, B3
  4. GLONASS: L1CA, L2CA, L3 CDMA
  5. NAVIC: L5
  6. SBAS: EGNOS, WAAS, GAGAN, MSAS
