Anritsu Introduces Software to Enable Testing of Connected Car Designs

Anritsu has introduced a Cellular Module Test Application (CMTA) software for their Signaling Testers MD8475A/MD8475B which provide test cases to dramatically simplify testing chipsets and automotive-related telematics modules used in connected car designs. Integrating the new CMTA test package with the MD8475A/B through their innovative SmartStudio GUI allows automotive manufacturers and suppliers to verify operation in various carrier environments more efficiently to lower the cost of test and decrease time to market.

CMTA provides a set of semi-automated test scenarios via SmartStudio for testing and debugging automotive use cases more efficiently by replicating real-world scenarios as a replacement to conducting expensive, time-consuming drive tests. The software-based solution integrates into the MD8475A/B platform and can be easily customized to meet user needs.

Paired with the SmartStudio GUI, these Signaling Testers provide a rich user experience for testing cellular modules from the early stages of TCU (telematics control unit) module integration to a final production-ready vehicle. It is a perfect solution to ensure wireless connectivity in vehicular applications is at a quality of service and user experience similar to mobile device operation.

The Signaling Testers MD8475A/B can be used by automotive OEMs, as well as Tier 1 and Tier 2 suppliers during design, development, manufacturing and troubleshooting. With support for LTE, LTE-Advanced, W-CDMA/HSPA/HSPA-Evolution/DC-HSDPA, GSM/EGPRS, CDMA2000 1X/1xEV-DO Rev. A. and TD-SCDMA/TD-HSPA, the instruments can conduct functional and system level testing of cellular modems used in connected vehicles. eCall, IMS, VoLTE, off-load tests and call-processing tests for smartphones which are now present on vehicles are also supported by the MD8475A/B base station simulators.
