At IMS 2017, W. L. Gore & Associates is featuring several new developments. On display at their booth is the upgraded GORE VNA Microwave/RF Test Assemblies that offer stable, reliable performance up to 70 GHz. The upgrade addresses industry requirements for enhanced performance in the 60-70 GHz range where there is an increased need to maintain measurement accuracy.
Constant and/or highly repetitive movement of cables can compromise the measurement precision of high-performance VNAs. Leading manufacturers such as Keysight and Rohde & Schwarz use GORE VNA Microwave/RF Test Assemblies. These VNA Test Assemblies are engineered to provide the most precise VNA measurements under laboratory conditions, delivering the highest accuracy and the greatest time interval between recalibrations. These assemblies have a rugged, lightweight construction that enables longer service life, reduced downtime, and lower operating costs over the life of the equipment.
The VNA Microwave/RF Test Assemblies maintain excellent insertion loss and VSWR. Unlike conventionally designed RF test assemblies, these assemblies ensure accurate and repeatable measurements because of their excellent phase and amplitude stability with flexure. And prior to shipment, all test assemblies are tested for return loss, insertion loss, phase stability, and loss stability up to their maximum operating frequency.
Gore is also demonstrating the GORE PHASEFLEX Microwave/RF Test Assemblies, Type 0N. These assemblies are the smallest, lightest, most internally ruggedized assemblies on the market today for modular, multi-port, and multi-site test applications, ensuring consistent, repeatable measurements with stable electrical performance up to 50 GHz.
Building on the portfolio of GORE PHASEFLEX Microwave/RF Test Assemblies, the unprecedented small package and light weight of Type 0N not only makes initial routing much easier in cramped spaces but also reduces the stress on test ports and DUTs as cables are connected to test instrument ports and fixtures. This high-density test assembly also withstands continuous movement and flexing while delivering enhanced phase and amplitude stability.
Another ongoing, live demo is the phase and amplitude stability with flexure of GORE PHASEFLEX Microwave/RF Test Assemblies. These assemblies perform reliably over time without any physical changes, meaning these cable assemblies maintain electrical and mechanical integrity in environments where the other assemblies would be compromised.
Gore will also be giving a MicroApps presentation: “The 5G Communication Test: Test & Measurement Cable Assembly Challenges and Solutions,” by David Zheng, Thursday, June 8, 10:40 am, Booth 1946.
