At the European Microwave Week (EuMW), Rohde & Schwarz will be exhibiting its latest measurement solutions for RF and component testing, A&D, radar, and 5G NR. In addition, Rohde & Schwarz specialists will be on hand to share their expertise with visitors in numerous free seminars and workshops.
This year, Rohde & Schwarz is exhibiting its latest T&M solutions for RF and microwave component testing, as well as for applications in A&D, radar, and 5G.
Speed and high performance are not mutually exclusive when it comes to component testing: the vector network analyzers from Rohde & Schwarz raise the bar for antenna array measurements with the R&S ZNBT multiport network analyzer and for precise characterization of satellite converters with the R&S ZVA. For amplifier measurements in the millimeter wave band, the R&S ZC300 frequency converter will be on display together with the R&S ZVA and the MPI MP80 positioner set. The large dynamic range of this solution facilitates quick measurements.
The popular R&S FSW high-end signal and spectrum analyzer with its new look and feel will make its debut at EuMW. Along with an updated exterior and a new user interface concept as well as an SCPI recorder for simple programming of remotely controlled test sequences, all R&S FSW models with a maximum input frequency up to 26.5 GHz are available with 2 GHz internal analysis bandwidth. They also offer 800 MHz bandwidth for realtime analysis. With its high sensitivity at input frequencies up to 90 GHz (R&S FSW-B90G option), the R&S FSW85 is unique and suitable for analysis of radar signals as well as automobile applications and the A&D field.
For generating wideband radar signals in the millimeter wave band, the R&S SMW200A equipped with the R&S Pulse Sequencer software will be on display. The 2 GHz internal RF modulation bandwidth of the R&S SMW200A makes it possible to generate dedicated pulses with minimal pulse width and rise time or linear frequency modulated signals up to 2 GHz.
Measurement of the phase and amplitude stability of pulsed signals is essential for maximizing the performance of radar systems. The R&S FSWP high-end phase noise analyzer and VCO tester is a one-box solution for characterizing the phase and amplitude stability of pulsed radar applications or measuring these parameters on components such as amplifiers. Where high-purity signals are needed, for example for testing ADCs or DACs, the R&S SMA100B provides them without compromise. Extremely low phase noise and extremely high output power, along with very low harmonic content and virtually no broadband noise, are decisive criteria for successful tests.
With the advent of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), radar sensors are playing an increasingly important role in vehicles. At EuMW, Rohde & Schwarz is demonstrating its innovative test solutions specifically for automotive radar – from development to production. This includes the new, unique solution from Rohde & Schwarz for simple, user-friendly execution of the mandatory tests of automotive radar sensors defined in the radio equipment directive (RED). The new R&S AREG100A automotive radar echo generator, the R&S ATS1500A shielded chamber and the R&S SMBV100B vector signal generator or the R&S SMB100B analog signal generator together form the ideal solution for testing the ability of radar sensors to withstand interference signals. With the equally new and unique R&S QAR imaging system, developers and production engineers can reliably and very quickly characterize the signal transparency of radomes.
Using a 77 GHz automotive radar link as an example, Rohde & Schwarz will demonstrate phase-coherent multichannel measurements with the new R&S RTP high-performance oscilloscope. In combination with external frequency converters, the R&S RTP is a powerful solution and the only one on the market that can compensate converter attenuation and transmission losses in the signal path in realtime (de-embedding). Users benefit from precise and extremely quick measurement results.
As a leading provider of test and measurement equipment for the connected world of today and tomorrow, Rohde & Schwarz offers test solutions for the new 5G standard – for example, for generating and analyzing 5G NR signals in line with the latest 3GPP specifications (version 15.2.0). The new R&S FSW signal and spectrum analyzer can now analyze 5G NR uplink signals for developing 5G mobile devices and components such as power amplifiers, as well as downlink signals for tests on 5G base stations. The R&S SMW200A RF vector signal generator provides the necessary signals for uplink and downlink receiver tests. Both instruments can also be used for characterizing high-performance and efficient Doherty amplifiers. The R&S SMW200A generates highly synchronized signals in its two paths, while the R&S FSW provides suitable analysis functions for further refinement of the properties of Doherty amplifiers and other amplifiers.
Another eye-catcher at the booth is the patented R&S PWC200 plane wave converter. It is the first instrument that makes it possible to precisely measure an antenna’s far-field characteristics at close range in the near-field region. This makes the R&S PWC200 ideal for characterizing 5G MIMO base stations.
New products such as the R&S SMB100B analog signal generator and the R&S SMBV100B vector signal generator round out the trade fair presence. Both of these new compact midrange instruments offer versatility and high performance in an extremely small package. They set a new standard in their class for spectral purity, extremely high output power, and easy, intuitive touchscreen operation. The R&S SMB100B and the R&S SMBV100B meet in particular the needs of users in the sectors of RF semiconductor development, telecommunications, and aerospace & defense.
