ETS-Lindgren has released a 5G upgrade package for existing Over-the-Air (OTA) test systems, including those installed by ETS-Lindgren and other manufacturers. The upgrade adds value to the original test system investment by adding support for 5G New Radio (NR) devices operating in non-standalone (NSA) mode. Support for stand-alone (SA) mode devices operating in frequency range 1 (FR1), also called the Sub-6 GHz band, will be available shortly.
An upgrade to ETS-Lindgren's industry leading EMQuest antenna measurement software allows for Total Radiated Power (TRP) and Total Isotropic Sensitivity (TIS) testing of Single Input Single Output (SISO) devices. Customers have full flexibility when selecting the 5G network emulator since EMQuest supports all major equipment manufacturers.
This 5G upgrade has been developed so that it is cost effective and can be installed on existing OTA chamber therby not requiring significant investements. In addition, installation is 1-2 weeks on-site and ETS trains users once the upgrade is completed to ensure they are immediately productive with the upgraded system. The primary goal, according to ETS, is to provide an easy investment decision and path with as little downtime as possible so that customers feel confident accepting 5G projects.
ETS-Lindgren offers solutions for 5G measurements in both frequency ranges, 600 MHz to 6 GHz and the millimeter range where various bands between 22 and 50 GHz are being considered for 5G NR devices.
