Low noise amplifiers are deployed in communication systems primarily to amplify weak signals received by the antenna. They are used in various applications such as GPS receivers, wireless data systems, satellite communications, cellular handsets etc. It is very important to simulate LNA performance well at a system level design. Keeping this in mind Skyworks has developed BlackBox models for their LNAs so customers can insert these into their designs to simulate and predict small/large signal performance. This white paper talks about the procedure that is used to produce effective BlackBox models to predict close to accurate performance of the LNA’s.
