Reflectarray elements retransmit signals from the feed and introduce such phase delay that a plane wave is formed in a given direction. Reflectarrays may be an interesting alternative to classic array antennas because they do not contain a beamforming network in its classic form. Instead, the free space between the feed and reflector aperture acts as a beamforming network.
