What frequency bands have been allocated to 5G in Argentina?
Argentina plans to deploy 5G technology in mid-2021. The Ente Nacional de Comunicaciones (ENACOM), telecom regulator of Argentina is waiting for the ITU WRC-19 conference in October, 2020 to officially announce the 5G bands available for auction.
Though the 5G frequency bands in play have not been announced officially, according to the proposed plans, the 600 MHz band will be released by 2021. The 3.4 - 3.8 GHz (n78) frequency band will be up for auction in 2022. The remaining higher spectrum bands will be available for auction in 2023.
ENACOM has granted permission to telecom operators to perform 5G trials in the country. In 2017, Movistar teamed up with Ericsson to perform Argentina’s first 5G trial in Buenos Aires by using 28 GHz (n257) mmWave spectrum.
