MACOM Introduces New W-Band Diodes and Ku-Band Power Amplifier at IMS 2020

MACOM Technology, a leading supplier of semiconductor solutions, has introduced three W-band (80 - 100 GHz) diode products - MASW-011111-DIE, MAAV-011014-DIE and MAAD-011038-DIE along with a new Ku-Band Power Amplifier - MAAP-011313 at the virtual International Microwave Symposium (IMS) 2020.

These new diodes are the microwave industry’s first integrated W-band diode products that operate between the 80 GHz – 100 GHz frequency range while also achieving high linearity and a 1dB power compression of approximately +25 dBm.

  • The MASW-011111-DIE is a wideband single pole, double throw switch that offers 0.8 dB insertion loss over the operating frequency range with 25 dB of isolation.
  • The MAAV-011014-DIE is a wideband Voltage Variable Attenuator (VVA) that offers < 3 dB insertion loss, > 25 dB attenuation range and return loss > 10 dB in all attenuation states.
  • The MAAD-011038-DIE is a wideband 3-bit step digital attenuator with 1 dB LSB, 7 dB attenuation range and return loss > 12 dB in all attenuation states.

These new parts are ideally suited for a multitude of applications, including Aerospace & Defense, Medical, Passive Imaging, Radiometry, SATCOM and Test Instrumentation.

MACOM also introduced the MAAP-011313, a 4-Watt power amplifier packaged in a lead-free 5 mm surface-mount QFN plastic package. This power amplifier operates from 13.5 to 15 GHz and provides 36 dB of linear gain, 4 Watts of saturated output power, and 28% efficiency while biased at +6 V. The MAAP-011313 can be used as a power amplifier stage or as a driver stage in higher power applications. This device is ideally suited for linear Ku-Band VSAT and point-to-point radio applications.
