TAIYO YUDEN CO., LTD. has introduced a new Bluetooth 5 compatible wireless communications module with its proprietary embedded software. The EYSKJNAWB-WX (5.1x11.3x1.3 mm) is ideal for IoT devices, including sensor networks containing various sensors used in combination, healthcare equipment, and home automation equipment. The product, which is approximately 75% smaller in volume than TAIYO YUDEN’s existing product, EYSKBNUWB-WX (10.0×15.4×2.0 mm), includes the company’s proprietary embedded software, allowing for the realization of wireless communications simply by inputting simple commands from the outside, thereby contributing to reducing the development period.
Small IoT-related devices, which use coin-type batteries for operation, are required for sensor networks everywhere and to have an extremely low power consumption. Software for wireless communication must be created when developing such devices, which can be challenging and cause many problems, including a lengthy development period. In response to this, TAIYO YUDEN developed the EYSKJNAWB-WX, a Bluetooth 5 module with proprietary embedded software. Bluetooth 5 is widely used as a low power wireless communications standard.
Wireless modules like the EYSKJNAWB-WX are required for small IoT-related devices, including sensor networks in which various sensors are used in combination, healthcare equipment, and home automation equipment. Commercial production of the product commenced in 2020, with a sample price of 3,000 yen ($28.4 USD) per unit.
