Remcom, a provider of innovative electromagnetic simulation and wireless propagation software for commercial users and U.S. government sponsors is showcasing its EM Simulation Tools at the virtual IMS 2021 event. Remcom introduced a transient EM/circuit co-simulation for TVS diode ESD protection analysis feature in XFdtd. Their demonstrations at IMS include a new version of WaveFarer, with the ability to simulate diffuse scattering and backscatter through walls. Remcom is also showcasing Wireless InSite, an RF propagation software that provides an efficient and accurate prediction of EM propagation and communication.
Recently Remcom announced an update to XFdtd 3D EM Simulation Software, with transient EM/circuit co-simulation for electrostatic discharge (ESD) testing and support for transient voltage suppressor (TVS) diodes and spark gaps. Remcom’s XFdtd empowers ESD engineers to simulate TVS diodes and finalize protection circuitry for their products in the early stages of design. This improves product reliability and lowers cost by reducing the design engineering cycle time. There is an upcoming webinar in order to demonstrate this update and discuss it in detail, on June 22, 2021. In this webinar, at IMS 2021, users can learn how XFdtd's transient EM/circuit co-simulation effectively resolves ESD vulnerabilities earlier in the design process and prevents future certification setbacks.
They have also published a whitepaper on this topic: Transient EM/Circuit Co-Simulation in XFdtd: A Closer Look at TVS Diodes for ESD Protection.
The latest release of WaveFarer provides a number of new features to improve its support for automotive and indoor radar applications. New diffuse scattering algorithms capture the backscatter from rough surfaces, such as roads, terrain, and building materials. This combines with detailed backscatter from target objects to provide a more accurate prediction of the radar returns from a complex scene. This release also adds the ability to transmit through walls, windows, or other materials, supporting indoor sensor applications where waves can penetrate through walls into neighboring rooms or capture interactions with the interior structures of a vehicle.
