Signal Hound, a manufacturer of highly-optimized solutions for RF test and measurement equipment, has started production of the SM435B mmWave Spectrum Analyzer and Monitoring Receiver. This is Signal Hound's most powerful unit to date, and they are excited to get it into the hands of RF professionals everywhere. They have experienced a slight delay in their initial timeline, but they are close to having units ready for purchase. They are following careful quality control on all engineering aspects to ensure a flawless product in the end. The targeted release of the SM435B now stands at the end of the First Quarter 2022.
Pre-orders are now being taken (with a company-issued PO) for this 43.5 GHz workhorse that will take the customer’s analysis capabilities to the next level. With an increased tuning range of 100 kHz to 43.5 GHz, 160 MHz of instantaneous bandwidth (IBW) and ultra-low phase noise to rival even the most expensive spectrum analyzers on the market, this new flagship product will allow customers to conduct millimeter wave spectrum analysis at an affordable price point.
The SM435B has been developed on Signal Hound’s signature portable format. It extends the frequency range to enable testing of 5G mmWave bands, offers ultra-low phase noise, and includes a 20 MHz to 43.5 GHz sub-octave preselector. One industry professional has called it "The most agile and affordable 5G real-time analysis instrument covering global 5G communication band!" With the inclusion of an “option-80” on this unit, customers can replace the front panel 10 MHz output with a 1.5 GHz IF output, having 800 MHz of bandwidth. This feature makes 24.3 GHz to 40 GHz available for a front panel IF output and for internal processing at 40 MHz and 160 MHz bandwidths. The 40 GHz to 43.5 GHz band is available only as an 800 MHz bandwidth of IF output when this add-on is installed.
