KYOCERA AVX Launches Antenna Band Switching Solution for Cellular & IoT Applications

KYOCERA AVX has launched an Antenna Band Switching Solution on a Small Evaluation Board (EVB) for Broadband LTE, 4G/5G, LTE CAT-M, NB-IoT and Cellular LPWA. It consists of an LTE Antenna and Switch. The Board has a small size of 45.5 x 60 mm, which allows engineers to test the antenna performance on the typical size of IoT devices, reducing the number of iterations and improving the accuracy. The EVB uses the standard FR4 embedded LTE antenna 1004795 together with the EC646 chipset for band switching or aperture tuning.

The Antenna band switching solution has a low band frequency of 698-960 MHz and a High band frequency of 1710-2170 Mhz. They are suitable for use in Embedded designs, Cellular headsets, Handheld tablets, telemetric, tracking, healthcare, and Smart grid infrastructures.

Key Features of Antenna Band Switching Solution EVB:

  • Provides superior RF field containment resulting in less interaction with surrounding components
  • Reduced Antenna size enhances performance. Customer and regulatory specifications are easily met
  • Products are the latest RoHS version compliant.

Antennas may look alike on the outside, but the important difference is on the inside. Other antennas may contain simple PIFA or monopole designs that interact with their surroundings, complicating layout or changing performance with use position. KYOCERA AVX antennas utilize patented Isolated Magnetic Dipole (IMD) technology to deliver a unique size and performance combination.
