Broadcom, a global technology leader that designs, develops and supplies a broad range of semiconductor and infrastructure software solutions, is offering Wireless LAN/Bluetooth combo SoCs that provide the best-in-class connectivity solutions for mobile handsets and mobile accessories. These solutions are specifically designed for applications where high performance, low power consumption and small solution size are essential.
Broadcom’s range of Wireless LAN/Bluetooth combo SoCs consist of the BCM4398, BCM4389, BCM4375 and BCM43013. These highly compact SoCs integrate all functions such as MAC, PHY and RF, and deliver industry’s leading connectivity experience to end users, while lowering implementation costs for OEMs. These single chip devices integrate the entire profile, application and Bluetooth/Wi-Fi protocol stacks, and are fully compliant with the Bluetooth SIG and Wi-Fi Alliance specifications and certification requirements.
BCM4398
The BCM4398 is a low-power, highly integrated Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.2 combo chip optimized for mobile handset applications where high performance, low latency, low power consumption and small solution size are key requirements. This system-on-a-chip contains a simultaneous dual-band (SDB) 2×2 IEEE 802.11be-compliant radio, a dual-core Bluetooth (BT) 5.2 radio, and a dedicated scan core that enhances Bluetooth and WLAN system operation. The device includes support for 320 MHz wide channels, 5-7GHz band support and 4K-QAM modulation. Click here for more details on the BCM4398 SoC.
BCM4389
The BCM4389 is a is a low-power, highly integrated Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5 combo chip optimized for mobile handset applications where high performance, low power consumption and small solution size are key requirements. The device includes support for 160MHz wide channels, 6GHz band support, Tri-band Simultaneous (TBS) Wi-Fi capability and BT Xstream Dual Bluetooth capability. The chip includes a power management unit that simplifies the system power topology and allows for direct operation from a mobile platform battery while maximizing battery life. BCM4375
The BCM4375 simultaneously implements two streams of 802.11ax with Bluetooth 5.0 to enable Wi-Fi speeds up to 1.429 Gb/s on mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets. This SoC also supports 1024 QAM modulation, OFDMA and MU-MIMO. Click here for more details on the BCM4375 SoC.
BCM43013
The BCM43013 is an ultra-low power 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.0 combo chip for mobile platforms and accessories. This SoC delivers up to 3X longer battery life compared to Broadcom’s previous combo chips, enabling OEMs to design a new wave of high-performance connected devices.
The BCM43013 allows OEMs to integrate Wi-Fi into platforms that have traditionally been powered by Bluetooth alone because of battery size or constrained power budgets. In some applications, the BCM43013 Wi-Fi consumes 80 percent less power than the most common Bluetooth solutions today. This significant reduction in Wi-Fi power consumption enables OEMs to leverage the increased throughput and range of Wi-Fi to deliver new use cases in a wide variety of devices.
