KYOCERA, a leading manufacturer of Ceramics and Electronics, has released the new Z-Series and MC-Z Series of crystal oscillators for various timing applications. This unique platform-structured crystal oscillator has been designed to combine a fixed-size head unit (consisting of a quartz crystal, ceramic package and driver IC) mounted to a glass epoxy substrate in a variety of standard dimensions.
The combined fixed-size head unit mainly consists of a quartz crystal, ceramic package, and driver IC. The use of a common head unit reduces lead times by eliminating the need to design the IC, package and crystal elements individually for each standard dimension.
The crystals are cut along either X-axis or Y-axis. The X-type is designed to provide flexible frequency and ensures short delivery while the Y-type has been designed with an emphasis to offer excellent jitter characteristics to meet a wide range of needs.
The X-type oscillator operates over a frequency from 0.5 to 70 MHz and provides a frequency stability of ±30 ppm. This crystal type consists of a Phase Locked Loop (PLL) that ensures phase stability over the operating temperature range and offers heat resistance of up to +125°C.
The Y-type oscillator operates with multiple center frequencies at 24, 25, 50, and 60 MHz and provides a frequency stability of ±35 ppm. This crystal type is based on CMOS technology that integrates a Phase Locked Loop (PLL) resulting in phase stability over the operating temperature range and also offers heat resistance of up to +125°C.
The RoHS and REACH-compliant MC-Z series crystal oscillators are available in various sizes such as 2016, 2520, 3225, 5032, and 7050 and comply with AEC-Q100 and AEC-Q200 qualification for automotive products. They are current in production and available to be shipped once the order is placed. Click here to learn more about the Z-Series Clock Oscillators from KYOCERA.
