Rohde & Schwarz has improved the performance of its phase noise analyzers and voltage-controlled oscillator (VCO) testers enabling phase noise analysis and VCO measurement of parameters at high accuracy. The solutions include a high end R&S FSWP that combines phase noise analyzer and VCO tester with signal and spectrum analyzer in one instrument and R&S FSPN dedicated phase noise analyzer and VCO tester.
The test solutions have been upgraded in terms of both hardware and software, improving the market-leading performance even further, reducing noise levels and measurement times, and enhancing the accuracy of measurements. The new underlying hardware architecture for both the R&S FSWP and R&S FSPN includes upgraded DC sources with reduced noise levels.
From a user’s perspective, this translates to improved capacitive screen featuring higher color intensity and better antiglare properties, making the display brighter and clearer in all working conditions. In addition, multi-touch features like the zoom-in and zoom-out are supported by the updated user interface.
For very low noise oscillators with the inherent noise that is largely thermal at wider offsets, any potential cross-spectral collapse is now suppressed. Furthermore, a new SCPI command recorder has been implemented by Rohde & Schwarz for the first time. It is primarily a function with phase noise measurement equipment to record sequences of manual settings. Using this command recorder, engineers can create easily repeatable test sequences, including the necessary synchronization to operate correctly, all performed in relatively shorted times than the existing phase noise analyzers in the market.
In particular for production use, higher measurement speed for these VCO measurements will help reduce the cost of test procedures.
