MACOM, a leading supplier of semiconductor products, has announced that it has acquired Linearizer Communications Group, a a company that specializes in custom distortion solutions for ground and space qualified satellite applications as well as RF on fiber photonic systems.
Linearizer was founded in 1991 by Dr. Allen Katz and specializes in non-linear microwave predistortion for use in terrestrial, avionic and space-based applications and high-performance microwave photonic solutions for use in the industrial and defense markets. The Linearizer team uses proprietary design and manufacturing techniques to produce its high-performance components and subsystems. Linearizer has a long history of service to its loyal customer base, which is primarily in North America.

The purchase price was approximately $49 million, funded with cash-on-hand. MACOM plans to maintain and expand Linearizer’s current manufacturing and engineering facility. The acquisition is expected to be immediately accretive to MACOM’s adjusted earnings per share. However, due to the timing of the acquisition closing, it is not expected to have a material impact on MACOM’s fiscal second quarter of 2023 revenue or adjusted EPS.
