Mini-Circuits Introduces Three New MMIC Wideband Amplifiers for 5G MIMO and Defense Applications

Mini Circuits has further expanded its AVA family of wideband MMIC amplifiers with the addition to three new models which are, the AVA-183-MP+, AVA-2183+, and AVA-5R183+. These models are designed to cover bandwidths of up to 20 GHz, provide a flat gain, and a high dynamic range. They also provide a low noise figure and wide bandwidth, making them ideal for a variety of applications that include 5G MIMO, backhaul radio systems, SATCOM, test and measurement equipment, and EW, radar, ECM defense, and other military radio systems.

The MMIC amplifiers are particularly suitable for sensitive, wideband receiver systems where keeping the noise floor is a priority in test and measurement equipment to defense systems, and more. They offer a high linearity, which enables them to deliver a sufficient amount of power to drive most of the wireless communication equipments.

Key Features of the New MMIC Wideband Amplifiers

AVA-183MP+: This AVA-183MP+ is a GaAs pHEMT MMIC wideband distributed amplifier that operates from 0.05 to 18 GHz. It provides a gain of 16.5 dB, an output P1dB of +24 dBm, OIP3 of +31 dBm, and a noise figure of 1.8 dB while operating from a +8 V supply with 160 mA current consumption. The AVA-183MP+ offers a leading combination of wide bandwidth, low noise figure, high linearity, and output power resulting in a 50 Ω matched high dynamic range amplifier. The AVA-183MP+ performance characteristics are ideal for use in wideband Defense Systems and Test and Measurement Equipment. The amplifier is housed in an industry standard 4 x 4 mm QFN-style package.

AVA-2183+: The AVA-2183+ is a GaAs pHEMT MMIC Amplifier operating from 2 to 20 GHz. At 10 GHz, this MMIC amplifier provides a gain of 16.4 dB, noise figure of 5.2 dB, an output P1dB of +19.3 dBm, and OIP3 of +24.7 dBm, while operating from a +4 V supply drawing 210 mA of current. It is housed in an industry standard 4 x 4 mm 20-lead QFN-style package. With the RF ports internally matched to 50 Ω, this MMIC amplifier enables easy integration into microwave systems.

AVA-5R183+: AVA-5R183+ is a GaAs pHEMT MMIC wideband amplifier that operates from 0.5 to 18 GHz. It provides a gain of 14.4 dB of Gain, an output P1dB of +16.8 dBm, and an OIP3 of +27.9 dBm. This amplifier operates from a +5 V supply that draws 85 mA of current. The AVA-5R183+ offers high dynamic range and lower power dissipation making it ideal as a receiver gain block in wideband applications such as Test and Measurement Equipment and Defense Systems. The amplifier is housed in an industry standard 4 x 4 mm QFN-style package and with RF ports internally matched to 50 Ω, it facilitates easy integration into microwave systems and PC boards.
