Z-Communications Showcases its Smart Frequency Synthesizer at IMS 2023

Z-Communications, a leader in Voltage Controlled Oscillator (VCO) and Phase-Locked Loop (PLL) technologies showcased its product portfolio at IMS 2023 in San Diego from 13-15 June. Z-Communications collaborated with Anritsu, leveraging their Field Master Pro MS2090A Handheld Spectrum Analyzer to validate the performance of its Smart PLL Frequency Synthesizer. The selection of the MS2090A was based on its compact size and exceptional performance.

Mike Inverso, Director of Sales for Z-Communications, emphasized the importance of showcasing the Smart PLL's cleanliness and its ability to lock quickly at various frequencies. The validation process, facilitated by a best-in-class spectrum analyzer highly regarded in the industry, will unveil the true potential of Z-Communications' Smart PLL frequency synthesizers. The Smart PLL Frequency Synthesizer, encompassing frequencies from 45 MHz to 22.6 GHz, delivers exceptional performance within a compact all-metal package. Users can easily program and customize functions such as frequency, sweep mode, dwell time, step size, and power output through a Bluetooth interface or USB cable.

Engineers will appreciate the Smart PLL Frequency Synthesizer as a cost-effective, clean, and user-friendly frequency source. Its versatility makes it suitable as an LO in test benches for radar and satellite designs, as well as any application requiring a simple frequency source.

The Z-Communications Wide Band Smart Frequency Synthesizer covers frequencies from 45 MHz to 22.6 GHz with 0.1 Hz resolution and dual output. This synthesizer is ideal for lab, production, and field testing scenarios. It incorporates several unique features, including dual frequency outputs with independent control, power attenuation ranging from -20dB to +7dB, and three frequency sweep modes (single sweep, repeat sweep, and cycle sweep) with customizable start/stop frequencies, step size, and dwell time. The unit comes with a built-in 100 MHz internal reference for immediate use, or users can utilize an external 100 MHz reference if desired. Powered by 5Vdc through a USB-C port, all functions can be conveniently controlled via a smartphone app (compatible with Bluetooth on iOS and Android) or a Windows PC through the USB-C power port. Each unit can be uniquely named using either interface, with all settings displayed on the screen. Visual cues provided by a series of LEDs indicate power, lock status, and Bluetooth connection.

Advanced users planning to incorporate the SSG22645LX Smart Synthesizer into automated test setups can take advantage of advanced commands through UART. The SSG22645LX Smart synthesizer is priced at $1,500.00.
