Rohde & Schwarz Validates Conformance Test Case for RCS 5.1

Rohde & Schwarz has validated the first conformance test case described for the IMS-based Rich Communication Suite 5.1 (RCS 5.1), again asserting the T&M manufacturer's leading position in the area of IMS testing. Rohde & Schwarz has repeatedly been the first and only provider to carry out validation for an IMS work item.

RCS

Validation of the test case was carried out as part of the GCF Conformance and Interoperability Agreement Group Meeting #43 in Malaga. RCS is based on the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) platform and supports functions including instant messaging, presence and multimedia content sharing during a video call. Leading network operators are already planning the roll-out of RCS features like these. To ensure interoperability and proper functioning, conformance tests will in the future be mandatory for all wireless devices that support RCS 5.1. For this purpose, Rohde & Schwarz offers network operators, manufacturers of wireless devices and chipsets as well as test houses the new R&S CMW-KAC15 option for the R&S CMW500 wideband radio communication tester. Users can simply upgrade their existing Rohde & Schwarz protocol and IMS/VoLTE test solutions with the new software option.

By completing this validation, the company has covered all GCF work items (WI) and PTCRB requests for testing (RFTs) for IMS and VoLTE. This not only makes Rohde & Schwarz the company offering the greatest number of validated test cases but also the only T&M manufacturer on the market to offer a complete conformance test portfolio ranging from RF and RRM conformance testing to protocol tests all the way to location based services, data throughput and acoustics tests. In addition, the Rohde & Schwarz test solutions meet the requirements of leading network operators around the world and are officially certified for their specific tests. This combination is also the only of its kind on the market.
