CMT's 1-Port VNAs Offer Compatibility with SPEAG's EM Antenna Product Line for Material Measurements

Copper Mountain Technologies (CMT), a company that develops innovative RF test and measurement solutions for engineers worldwide, has announced that its test and measurement instruments offer compatibility with SPEAG’s (Schmid and Partner Engineeering AG) electromagnetic antenna product line, enabling wideband, near-field measurements of various dielectric materials and liquids.

SPEAG is offering a unique product line, the Dielectric Assessment Kit (DAK) to efficiently test and characterize various materials and specific solutions. The DAK product line offers high-precision dielectric parameter measurements (permittivity, conductivity, loss tangent) over the very broad frequency range from 4 MHz to 67 GHz for applications in the electronic, chemical, food, and medical industries.

The product line consists of 1) DAK single probes solutions, 2) DAK Systems, and 3) DAK-TL-P the first system ever able to measure thin-layer materials and small volumes of liquids. DAKS is based on the same probe technology as the single probe DAK versions but with the vector reflectometer integrated to eliminate phase distortions due to cable movements, i.e., the probes are moved to the object under test; with a single probe, the probe and cable must remain stationary, which can complicate certain measurements.

Currently, SPEAG is offering two versions of the DAKS - Dielectric Assessment Kit Product Line - DAKS-12, and DAKS-3.5.

The DAKS-12 operates from 4 MHz to 3 GHz, and can be integrated with CMT’s R60 1-port VNA while the DAKS-3.5 operates from 200 MHz all the way up to 14 GHz, which can be integrated with the CMT’s R140 1-port VNA.

By integrating with CMT’s VNA, it is possible to measure various parameters such as magnetic field strength, electric field intensity along with other responses, while maintaining high accuracy and resolution of measurements over a wide frequency range, as provided by the VNAs.

SPEAG’s mission is to expand and strengthen its position as the leading developer and manufacturer of the most reliable, efficient, user-friendly, and advanced numerical tools and instrumentation for the accurate evaluation of electromagnetic near- and far-fields from static to optical frequencies.
