Smiths Interconnect has introduced a temperature variable attenuator selector tool that can automatically generate the overall performance of the selected Thermopad product. Smiths Interconnect is known for their patented line of Thermopad products that compensate for gain variation over temperature. The Thermopad® (Patent # 5,332,981) is a totally passive, surface mountable temperature variable attenuator. It requires no bias or control voltages and does not generate distortion. The Thermopad can be used in place of a standard chip attenuator to combine level setting or buffering and temperature compensation in a single chip design. This reduces the component count, increases reliability, and lowers costs. Applications include power amplifiers, mixers, MMIC amplifiers, directional couplers and diode detectors.
The new Thermopad Selector tool enables the user to select the exact product options for their design. The online tool allows for quick access to the Thermopad temperature attenuator product family. It’s as simple as modifying the Thermopad attributes to fit your unique performance requirements.
“The selector tool is an easy-to-use Thermopad series reference tool,” said Tullio Panerello, Vice President and General Manager of the Fibre Optics and RF Components Business Unit at Smiths Interconnect. "It provides quick access to the Thermopad values including frequency range, temperature response, power handling and size for end-user assurance”.
The Thermopad Selector tool offers:
- Application and Temperature Shift Reference Notes
- Thermopad and Amplifier Response Charts
- Product Specification Charts
- Thermopad Brochure & Technical Data Sheets
