New Edge-Lock RF PCB Connectors Eliminate the Need for Custom Fixtures During the Reflow Process

SV Microwave has unveiled its latest innovation, the Edge-Lock RF PCB connector series, designed to revolutionize high-frequency connectivity. The groundbreaking design creates an interference fit between the connector's alignment pin and the PCB thru-hole, effortlessly pulling the connector's contact lane to the PCB edge. This eliminates the need for custom fixtures during the reflow process, streamlining production while ensuring optimal RF performance across the connector's entire frequency spectrum, reaching up to 40 GHz for the 2.92mm version.

Key features include precision placement facilitated by the Edge-Lock design, obviating the necessity for costly reflow oven fixtures. The connector securely clamps to the PCB edge and can be adapted to accommodate various PCB thicknesses, enhancing versatility.

Without proper reflow oven fixtures, edge launch connectors can be difficult to solder properly. As a result, a gap as small as 0.15" can have a major undesirable effect on return loss performance as seen in the graph below.

Targeted applications span high-speed and high-frequency component testing, product evaluation boards, as well as critical sectors such as Mil-Aero radar and communication systems, and satellite communication systems. SV Microwave's Edge-Lock RF PCB connectors herald a new era of efficiency and performance in RF connectivity solutions.
