KYOCERA AVX Introduces Innovative Phase-Stable Ultra-Wideband Antenna from 6 to 8.5 GHz

KYOCERA AVX has introduced the 'Tulip' Line of  Ultra Wideband (UWB) antennas that has been developed for on-board and on-ground applications from 6.0 - 8.5 GHz.

The 9002305L0 UWB antenna is manufactured through Laser Direct Structuring (LDS) technology that facilitates the creation of a three-dimensional pattern design. With its compact dimensions of 6.40 x 6.40 x 5.52 mm, the antenna is suitable for Surface Mount Technology (SMT) assembly. Its design provides an omni-directional radiation pattern and, crucially, a consistent phase across the antenna to enhance the accuracy of UWB systems.

The 9002305L0 antenna demonstrates exceptional Group Delay and Phase distribution, leading to improved Phase Difference of Arrival (PDoA) accuracy. This improvement supports enhanced system-level services, such as Angle of Arrival (AoA) and Time of Flight (ToF), thereby maximizing the precision of device localization and ensuring secure communication with the device. This antenna is ideally suited for UWB applications including smart access, indoor asset tracking, smart city, smart mobility, and other automotive use cases.

This antenna provides a peak gain of 4.3 dBi with an average efficiency of 61% and has a VSWR of less than 5:1. It is linearly polarized and can handle a CW input power of 2 watts. This UWB antenna operates over a temperature range from -40°C to +85°C and adheres to RoHS and REACH compliance specifications.

This innovative antenna is characterized by its phase stability that remains the same in all directions around the antenna during radiation, making it a very useful omni-directional solution for various broadband applications.
