TUALCOM, a provider of high-frequency broadband solutions for communication, RF technologies, radar and electronic warfare, has introduced a new lightweight radar altimeter that provides accurate above the ground altitude measurements over a range of up to 1.5 Mach (1500 meters) in the frequency band from 4.2 to 4.4 GHz.
This radar altimeter offers a modular FPGA based design equipped with advanced digital signal processing (DSP) techniques, resulting in a low-SWaP, low-cost, and high-performance system that is suitable for deployment in unmanned airborne vehicles helicopters, aircrafts, and missiles.
The system’s state-of-the-art signal processing and high computation rate allow for accurate altitude measurements for ultra high-speed platforms in different kinds of weather conditions while maintaining high accuracy. It also includes built-in protection mechanisms to ensure reliability at all times.

The radar altimeter requires a DC supply from 12 to 36 V and consumes 10 W of power. IT can be controlled using RS422, RS485, and RS232 (Ethernet) interfaces. The altimeter is compliant with MIL-STD-810G and MIL-STD-461F military standards for EMI/EMC compatibility and robustness.
