At IMS 2024 in Washington DC last week, Signal Hound, a manufacturer of accessible, versatile, and precision test equipment, showcased a new vector network analyzer (VNA) that they plan to launch soon. The VNA400 is a high performance, USB-powered, two-port vector network analyzer (VNA) that operates over a wide frequency range from 40 MHz to 40 GHz. Boasting a sub-Hz resolution of +/- 1 ppm, this VNA is ideal for RF industry professionals involved in cable testing, antenna testing, return loss/VSWR measurements, filter tuning, insertion loss measurements, amplifier testing, electrical strength measurements, group delay measurements, impedance measurements, and SMT component evaluation.
The VNA400 is also equipped with a built-in TCXO for accurate timing synchronization and provides a sweep speed of 2000 points per second at a resolution bandwidth of 30 kHz, making it a perfect analysis tool whether one is in the lab or out in the field.
Key Features of VNA400
- Frequency Range from 40 MHz to 40 GHz
- Sub-Hz resolution
- Frequency and time domain measurements
- Dynamic range of up to 135 dB
- Software Interface for Control: This VNA400 can be interfaced with a PC via a USB Type-C port and controlled via software that can be installed on Windows or Linux OS (x64_86 architecture). Dedicated SCPI commands are provided, which can be entered by the user for specific operations.
The VNA400 measures 10.8 x 6.2 x 1.5 inches and has NMD 2.92 mm (male) test port connectors. It requires a DC supply of 5 V and consumes less than 15 W of power.
