In response to the growing demand for enhanced backhaul network performance and versatility, Filtronic, a leading designer and manufacturer of RF-to-mmWave technology, has introduced the Hercules II high-power E-band transceiver module. This advanced module is set to transform the industry by combining Filtronic’s renowned Morpheus II transceiver with the robust Cerus 4 or Cerus 8 SSPA module, offering unmatched performance and setting new standards for high-speed backhaul networks.
This high-power E-band transceiver module features fully integrated 71-76 to 81-86 GHz TRx modules, supporting Tx output power exceeding 35 dBm. It boasts low phase noise at -112 dBc/Hz at 1MHz, supports up to 512 QAM modulation, and offers greater than 2 GHz channel bandwidth. The integrated diplexer and single T/R port for antenna interface ensure simple modem connection and optimal performance through 100% calibration and testing.
The Hercules II integrates two industry-leading technologies, at its core, the Morpheus II module ensures streamlined RF communication within the E-band, enabling efficient full-duplex data exchange and seamless integration with high-speed modems. This integration is further enhanced by the Cerus amplifier, which significantly boosts transmit power, resulting in a longer operational range and superior signal strength. These features make the Hercules II an ideal solution for challenging environments.
The Hercules II supports advanced modulation techniques and incorporates an ultra-low noise LNA, maximizing its potential by efficiently utilizing available bandwidth. The system achieves exceptional data throughput, making it ideal for latency-sensitive private networks where speed and extended link length are critical. Applications such as High Altitude Platform Stations (HAPS) and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) particularly benefit from the Hercules II’s robust performance.
Walter Magiera, Chief Commercial Officer at Filtronic, emphasized the company’s focus on exceeding the performance demands of modern high-speed networks: “This transceiver module is designed to provide exceptional reliability and efficiency, ensuring our customers can maintain optimal network performance even under the most challenging conditions. Its advanced features and robust design make it a versatile tool for a wide range of cutting-edge applications.”
The Hercules II is designed for incorporation into outdoor units (ODUs), facilitating rapid time-to-market deployment with minimal customer engineering resources. Its compact, low-mass form factor makes it ideal for long-range applications and high-power, low-latency private networks.
