Falcomm Launches its First Power Amplifier Based on its Ultra-Efficient Dual-Drive™ Architecture

Falcomm, a fabless semiconductor startup out of Atlanta, working to develop the most energy-efficient power amplifier products in the wireless communication market has released their first product, the FCM1401. This power amplifier product features Falcomm’s proprietary technology, the ultra-efficient Dual-Drive™ architecture, and was implemented using the GlobalFoundries 130NSX1 process. This power amplifier technology offers significant advantages in its exceptional performance, improved energy efficiency and thermal management cost reduction. It seamlessly integrates with other efficiency enhancement methods while maintaining a compact silicon footprint. The FCM1401 is also specifically suited for applications in Ku-Band satellite communications.

Earlier this year, Falcomm also joined the GlobalFoundries® GlobalSolutions™ Partner Program, which aims to foster collaboration and innovation within the semiconductor industry by bringing together various partners, including design services, IP providers and EDA tool vendors to support customers in designing and manufacturing advanced semiconductor solutions. Support from an industry giant like GlobalFoundries ultimately elevates Falcomm’s competitive advantage.

The FCM1401 power amplifier will be available for licensing as a bare die packaged in a compact QFN (4 mm x 4 mm), or for custom product development. Sample units will be ready for distribution by Q4 2024.
