Keysight's FieldFox Handheld RF/Microwave Analyzers Enable Remote, Real-Time Measurements up to 54 GHz

The FieldFox Handheld Analyzers from Keysight is a comprehensive series of portable RF and Microwave analyzers that are designed to enable field engineers who are tasked with troubleshooting network issues in remote locations and device engineers designing and testing products in a work-from-home environment. Keysight's FieldFox portable analyzers can also handle the toughest working environments during routine maintenance, in-depth troubleshooting, and anything in between.

The FieldFox portable analyzers are currently offered in five different configurations, which include, cable and antenna analyzer (CAT), handheld vector network analyzer (VNA), handheld spectrum analyzer, pulse generator, or all-in-one combination RF analyzer. FieldFox is ruggedized to meet military specifications and enables 5G, satellite, and radar operators to make true RF coverage measurements up to 54 GHz and beyond. Coupled with portability, these analyzers make 5G field testing a reality by also providing a wide analysis bandwidth of up to 120 MHz. This also enables users to capture small, interfering signals spread over a large bandwidth in real-time.

FieldFox analyzers feature a large, backlit LCD display and ergonomic controls to facilitate easy control and clear measurement display. On the top of the unit, there are two RF connection ports, a GPS receiver, and an external reference trigger input. On the right side, customers will find the field-swappable battery that gives FieldFox the longest battery life of all handheld analyzers on the market. There is also a LAN port, two USB ports, an SD card slot, an external reference and trigger output, and the wideband intermediate frequency output on the right side. On the left side of the unit, there is a headphone jack, DC bias variable voltage source, and charging port. Weighing in at roughly 7.5 pounds, FieldFox is the lightest all-in-one portable analyzer out in the market.

New Capabilities Added to FieldFox Handheld Analyzers

Pulse Generator – Option 357: FieldFox capabilities are now extended to signal generation with their new built-in pulse signal generator. This pulse generator can create various pulses, such as standard pulses, FM chirps, FM triangles, AM pulses, and user-defined pulse sequences. Generate continuous-wave (CW) signals including AM/FM modulations, FSK, and BPSK.

Time Difference of Arrival (TDOA)TDOA is an emerging directional finding technique providing accurate results with as little as ten meters of uncertainty. Using this direction-finding method, several FieldFox RF analyzers in separate geographical locations with synchronized GPS signals can determine the location of an unknown signal source.

Interference Finder with a Direction Finding Antenna – Option 366: Users can perform last-mile detection of an unknown signal source using manual signal triangulation. They can automatically map multiple bearings based on detected peak power vs. azimuth. Record measurements into a CSV file for post-processing.

Upgradable Using a Software Key

With fully upgradable and license-key activated frequency, bandwidth, and over 20 software applications, users can easily customize their analysis based on the requirements. Mixing and matching VNA and SA frequencies is now possible, and customers can also effortlessly upgrade the capabilities of these analyzers by themselves when their requirements change with time, making FieldFox user-installable.

Furthermore, FieldFox can measure signal characteristics such as I/Q modulated signals, pulse width and amplitude for pulsed measurements, mixed-mode S-parameters, and noise figure, collectively enabling reliable testing of LTE FDD, 5G, and 5G NR systems over-the-air (OTA) and remotely.

FieldFox is ready to meet the users RF test needs. Stay ahead of changing measurement requirements by upgrading the handheld RF analyzer in the field with 25+ convenient, user-installable license keys. Click here to learn more about Keysight's FieldFox Handheld Analyzers.
