Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global leader in IoT technology, has announced the launch of its latest innovation, the Quectel BG770A-SN, a groundbreaking ultra-compact 5G-ready satellite communication module. This cutting-edge module supports both terrestrial (TN) and non-terrestrial networks (NTN), making it a powerful solution for IoT applications requiring reliable satellite connectivity, including in sectors such as transportation, maritime, energy, heavy industry, and agriculture.

The Quectel BG770A-SN is designed to meet the requirements of global use cases, offering comprehensive satellite coverage, ultra-low power consumption, and robust security features. Built in compliance with 3GPP Releases 13, 14, and 17, it supports LTE NB-IoT across NB1 and NB2 bands, ensuring exceptional coverage and communication through non-terrestrial networks. This is coupled with support for iSIM and GNSS functionality, enabling precise positioning for various IoT applications.

  2. Compact Form Factor: Measuring only 14.9mm x 12.9mm x 1.9mm, the ultra-compact SMT form factor is optimized for space-constrained applications like wireless POS, smart metering, trackers, and wearables.
  3. Low Power Consumption: Power-saving features such as Power Saving Mode (PSM) and Extended Idle Mode Discontinuous Reception (e-I-DRX) ensure minimal energy usage, making the module ideal for battery-powered devices.
  4. Global Coverage: Leveraging the GEO satellite constellation, the BG770A-SN offers comprehensive worldwide coverage for a variety of IoT applications.
  5. Security: The module is equipped with Integrated Security Elements (ISE), which ensure robust security for critical data transmission and communications.
  6. Temperature Range: Designed for rugged environments, it operates reliably between -40°C and +85°C, making it suitable for harsh industrial conditions.
  7. Rich Interface Support & DFOTA: It includes a variety of interfaces and supports Download Firmware Over The Air (DFOTA), enabling rapid deployment and minimizing time-to-market for device manufacturers.

In addition, Quectel has developed a dedicated antenna, the YECN028AA, specifically for the BG770A-SN module. This external 5G/NTN antenna supports 5G NR Sub-6GHz frequency bands, as well as 4G/3G/2G/LPWA and NTN bands. Its omni-directional design ensures high efficiency and gain, making it an ideal companion to ensure fast and reliable data transmission.
