Gapwaves Opens New Facility in Gothenburg, Sweden with Annual Production Capacity of 300,000 Antennas

Gapwaves, a leader in waveguide antenna technology, has inaugurated its state-of-the-art pilot-line production facility in Gothenburg, Sweden. This landmark development marks a pivotal step in Gapwaves’ strategic journey to becoming a certified supplier for the automotive sector while scaling up production to meet the growing demand in other market segments.

The new facility is a dual-purpose hub, combining advanced manufacturing with industrialization processes. It specializes in the assembly and testing of Gapwaves’ proprietary Injection Molded Waveguide (IMW) and Multi-Layer Waveguide (MLW) antennas. Designed to accommodate an annual production capacity of up to 300,000 antennas, the facility also plays a crucial role in streamlining the transfer of scalable production methods to Gapwaves’ global high-volume production partners.

This investment strengthens Gapwaves’ position as a technological innovator and supports its ambitious growth goals. With the facility’s proximity to suppliers and Gapwaves’ headquarters, the company benefits from reduced lead times, enhanced collaboration, and an increased focus on sustainability.

Gapwaves’ CEO Jonas Ehinger highlighted the significance of the achievement: “Today marks a milestone for Gapwaves as we officially open this cutting-edge production facility. This accomplishment reflects our commitment to fulfilling current and future contracts while setting the stage for continued growth. I extend my heartfelt thanks to our team for their dedication in reaching this milestone.”

Supply Chain Director Laban Cramér emphasized the strategic importance of the facility: “By integrating development and manufacturing processes, we gain a competitive edge in producing complex products efficiently. Our location near key suppliers and our commitment to sustainability further amplify this advantage.”

The pilot-line facility is essential for achieving the IATF certification in 2025, a critical requirement for automotive industry suppliers. The streamlined operations at the new facility will also help Gapwaves reduce order-to-delivery time while maintaining its high-quality standards.

The production hub represents the next chapter for Gapwaves, empowering the company to scale operations and meet the high-volume demands of its partners in automotive and telecommunications sectors.
