Hoverfly Technologies, a trailblazer in tethered unmanned aerial systems (TeUAS), is selected for the U.S. Army’s Variable Height Antenna-Heavy (VHA-H) program. This major achievement positions the company as a key partner in modernizing tactical communications through its advanced Spectre TeUAS.
The Spectre TeUAS is a groundbreaking tethered drone designed to support larger, more sophisticated intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) payloads, as well as multi-payload configurations. It seamlessly integrates into the Army’s Integrated Tactical Network (ITN), providing unmatched reliability and mission versatility.
Key Features of the Spectre TeUAS:
- Enhanced Payload Capacity: Designed for high-power, mission-specific equipment.
- Optimized for Mobility: Mountable on military vehicles for on-the-move operations.
- Uninterrupted Flight: Tethered design ensures persistent, reliable performance.
- Rugged and Reliable: Built for diverse and extreme environments.
"The Spectre’s capabilities represent a leap forward in tethered drone technology," said Steve Walters, CEO of Hoverfly Technologies. "Its design exceeds the demands of military operations, solidifying Hoverfly’s role as a leader in innovative TeUAS solutions."
The VHA-H program, part of the Army’s Nett Warrior initiative, emphasizes rapid prototyping and deployment of cutting-edge equipment to enhance tactical communications. The Spectre TeUAS was rigorously tested to meet the program’s stringent requirements, including a payload capacity of at least 5 lbs., rugged durability, and the ability to deliver persistent ISR and communication capabilities.
Hoverfly’s Spectre complements the company’s Sentry TeUAS, which holds the Variable Height Antenna–Light (VHA-L) designation. Earlier this year, Hoverfly received a $14 million order for 120 Sentry drones, underscoring the Army’s trust in their technology.
As the official VHA-H system, Spectre marks a significant milestone for Hoverfly Technologies. This achievement strengthens the company’s position as a potential Program of Record (PoR) for the U.S. Army and highlights its commitment to innovation in tethered drone technologies.
"The VHA-H designation is more than an award—it’s a validation of our mission to redefine aerial technology for military applications," added Walters.
Hoverfly’s commitment to enhancing tactical communications and situational awareness makes it an invaluable partner for the U.S. Army and defense operations worldwide.
