GetSAT Introduces Innovative Ka-Band, Flat-Panel Antennas for US Market

InterFLATGetSAT is introducing three flat-panel terminals to the US market at Satellite 2016, which takes place in Washington, DC from 8-10 March. Using GetSAT’s Ka-band antenna technology, InterFLAT, these new terminals offer significant savings in their size, weight, and power (SWaP) parameters and they provide improved performance, reduced life-cycle costs, and enhanced operational success.

Three transformative products that are being shocased at SATSHOW 2016:

MicroSAT - A small lightweight portable on-the-move (OTM) terminal that is extremely light at 8.8 lbs. (4 kg) for ground application, and 6.6 lbs. (3 kg) for air applications. Designed for compact installation, it provides fully autonomous operation for transmit and receive of high-bandwidth data rates of up to 10 Mbps.

NanoSAT - At 4.4 lbs. (2 kg) this ultra lightweight, low-profile portable is designed for ultra compact installations for hand carried and mobile applications. It provides autonomous operation for transmit and receive of high bandwidth data rates of more than 2 Mbps.

CaseSAT - This small suitcase has all the benefits of the MicroSAT, packed in a briefcase that can be hand carried for quick deployment.  Weighing 15.6 lbs. (7 kg), CaseSAT includes the antenna system, block up converter (BUC), and modem and is truly a portable manpack.

The industry norm for flat-panel systems in this market is to bundle two separate antennas, one transmit (30 GHz) and one receive (20 GHz), into a single bulky unit. InterFLAT uses interlace technology to combine the signal transmission and reception onto a single panel. At less than an inch in depth (23 mm) InterFLAT offers a very thin, light, and compact antenna that produces 63% efficiency for better performance. These antennas are 50% smaller, reduce heating, and lower costs for a more effective alternative to a traditional unit.

The SWaP improvements of the smaller panel also lead to a highly integrated unit with smaller and lighter mechanics and smart electronics that reduce out-of-the box components, including the controller, which is miniaturized and built into the antenna. In addition, GetSAT products are modem agnostic and give the customer the choice to use their preferred box.
