MACOM and X-Microwave, have announced the availability of MACOM-based RF components for use with X-Microwave’s online simulation and prototyping platform. The X-Microwave platform has been developed to simplify the design and prototyping of RF & Microwave systems. They enable designers to simulate a system block diagram and then procure the required components to build the physical system. The components which they call "X-MWblocks", are “Drop-In” and “Drop-On” modules that are easy to test, integrate, align, and configure to 50 GHz. The good thing with this approach is that from prototype to final production hardware, no messy Sweat Soldering or Silver Epoxy processes are required. X-MWblocks are highly characterized including X-Parameter and S-Parameter Models.
With this collaboration, X-Microwave users will now be able to take advantage of a broad selection of MACOM MMICs, spanning amplifiers, mixers, frequency multipliers, octave band VCOs, RF switches, voltage variable attenuators and phase shifters. The X-Microwave platform now equips designers to take advantage of MACOM’s leading MMIC performance and quality, with the added ability to seamlessly interconnect hundreds of compatible, pre-characterized X-MWblock components with solderless, building block flexibility. This dramatically reduces evaluation and design complexity enabling designers to dramatically accelerate their system prototyping and shorten design cycles.
MACOM is showcased its new portfolio of high-performance MMICs and its collaboration with X-Microwave this week at European Microwave Week (EuMW) in London.
