IZT GmbH has introduced a new signal generator for highly demanding applications that require extensive data streaming. This Signal Generator Platform enables the user to consolidate multiple conventional RF generators into one compact, cost effective, flexible, and easy-to-use RF test source. Modern radio receivers no longer gather information from a single modulated carrier, but often from multiple sources simultaneously. The multiple signals can be from more than one antenna, with independent carriers and different modulation formats. With multiple technologies, modulations and frequencies combined in a single receiver, this solution can match the receiver test requirements without a costly batch of standard RF generators.
The IZT S1010 has high-speed data streaming functionality integrated in to the system by means of very fast SSDs which make it possible to stream a large number of VSGs (Virtual Signal Generators) in parallel. Using the powerful streaming feature allows multiple DAB ETI (Ensemble Transport Interface) or EDI (Encapsulation of DAB Interfaces) signals to be modulated in real-time in order to test receivers, radios and chips. In addition, MRC (maximum ratio combining) tests are possible in this configuration. MRC is a method of combining the signals from multiple diversity branches. The system is also smaller in dimension, compared to the well-established IZT S1000 signal generator equipped with an external memory extension, large integrated touch screen and enhanced usability.
The IZT S1010 comprises all the related digital processing and is equipped with 4 x 1 TBSSD (optional) and a 250 GB SSD system disk. These disks are accessible from outside with robust HDD trays and are used to store and stream test vectors at high speed. As there are no moving parts for the SSD, the IZT S1010 is very robust and can be used in harsh environments and at high altitude.
It also features a user-friendly Graphical User Interface (GUI). The internal TFT has a built-in multi-touch controller which ensures enhanced usability. The device can be controlled from both, the internal TFT or using external displays. Remote operation is also possible. The IZT S1010 is housed in a 19" chassis with three rack units' height. Adding RF hardware and software options allows it to be configured to specific user needs.
For the IZT S1010 signal generator an optional rack mount slide mechanism facilitates mounting the device in a 19" rack and allows it to be accessed from the rear. An optional DC12V supply can be installed instead of the AC redundant supply. In addition, it is available with a 10 Gbit optical LAN interface for rapid data transfer from an internal S1010-SSD storage device and from an external data storage medium. With this option, very high data transfer rates can be achieved.
